COMMUNITY
definitely not about the denpa situation
I am not a fan of "community" in the sense most people actualize the word. I prefer ad hoc mutual periodic interactions. It's nice to have a shared history, of some kind or another with other individuals, it's fun to argue about things. Loose associations, a poke here or there. But there seems to be something perverse about this "community" thing. Maybe it's that I truly am a loner. I have had people who I have called "friend" and have likewise called me such. But all my dealings with the "community" concept have been rather negative. Politics abound any time you get more than 2 people in the same room for too long. well even 2 people will have a very basic form of politic, but it will almost immediately resolve itself somewhere along the master-servant spectrum of relationships. with 3 people there will invariably be a snubbed, there will in time be secret plottings. this will either be resolved or fester but it will happen. the more people you gather, the longer things take, the more elaborate the plotings become, factions will form each with their own power struggles, in addition to the multi-faction full group plottings. fucking drama. it's a mess. I don't mean to completely ignore every benefit a community might provide. one faction within a group will surely attempt to meet the needs of the unaffiliated to garner their support, this can be read by that person as having their needs of community met. in a church, one women’s faction might battle against another by feeding more poor than the other, many people are fed as a result. But I can not ignore the politicking. I tend to avoid community as a result. places of anonymous (personaless) interaction then are more ideal, psudonimity still allows for posturing. with true anonymity the idea is what is being either raised up or torn down, not the person. as soon as persona is attached, then comes the immediate he-said-she-said. It pains me to some degree that this space is persona coded. Of course takarabune is a many piloted ship, but that ship still has a pointed to "face" and removing that "face" is quite impossible now. The links and ties in the historical record will persist regardless of anything we may do about it. And doing something would show some kind of perceivable shame. We don't wish to communicate any shame about the chosen face even if it's not intentional. and even if we were somehow able to do all this without signaling any such pattern, there would remain the "takarabune", and the fact that all this is gathered under a single roof, paints a persona picture. The writings would need to be spread far and wide, none associated with the other to avoid this, and unfortunate as it may be these writings do /not/ in fact stand alone. The meaning of one is intended to only be seen fully through the many, and so each piece would be diminished. The whole is greater than the sum of it's parts and that sum is the persona takarabune. the message is in that persona and unseperatable from it.
